Day 01: Arrive Delhi
On arrival in Delhi you will be greeted by our representative at the airport and proceed to hotel. Rest of day at leisure. Overnight at Delhi.
Day 02: Delhi
New Delhi, the capital of India is a fusion of the ancient and the modern. Standing along the West End of Gangetic Plain, the capital city, Delhi, unwinds a picture rich with culture, architecture and human diversity, deep in history, monuments, museums, galleries, gardens and exotic shows. Comprising of two contrasting yet harmonious parts, the Old Delhi and New Delhi, the city is a travel hub of Northern India.
This day guests will be provided a tour of the National capital city of Delhi. In the morning the tour will begin with a visit to the charming sightseeing attractions of Delhi including Red Fort (Monday Closed), Jama Masjid, Rajghat-(the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi). Humayun Tomb and Qutub Minar. Overnight stay at hotel in Delhi.
Day 03: Delhi
This day guests will be provided a tour of Jantar Mantar, Lotus Tample, India Gate and President House. In evening board in the train for overnight journey to Allahabad. Overnight in Train.
Day 04: Allahabad (Kaushambi ) - Varanasi
On arrival at Allahabad, City tour which includes -Anand Bhawan, the residence of Mr. Jawahar Lal Nehru. (The first Prime Minister of Independent India, Closed on Mondays and Government holidays), Allahabad Fort, Ashoka Pillar, Akshaya Vat. Also visit Sangam, the holy junction where three rivers Ganga, Jamuna & Saraswati meets.
Transfer to Kaushambi (60 Km), this place is to be believed that Lord Buddha had visited in the 6th and 9th year after attaining enlightenment. Excavations have revealed ruins of an Ashokan Pillar, an old fort and the Ghositaram Monastery, besides a huge number of sculptures and figurines, cast coins and terracotta, objects. Proceed to Varanasi. Overnight stay at hotel in Varanasi.
Day 05: Varanasi (Sarnath)
Early morning drive to Daswamedh Ghat and take a boat ride on the sacred river Ganges to see the cremation Ghat (HARISCHANDRA TO MANIKARNIKA GHAT), Banaras Hindu University. The Banaras Hindu University was established in 1916 by special efforts of Nationalist Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya. Today it has grown into one of the biggest university of India and in Asia.
Visit Sarnath, where the Buddha preached his first sermon is home to perhaps the most interesting landmark on India's religious and historical landscape. Also visit Chaukhandi Stupa, Dhamek Stupa. (The 34 meter-high Dhamek Stupa towers over the gardened heart of Sarnath and marks the spot where the Buddha is said to have preached the famous first sermon) Mulagandha Kuti Vihar, Sarnath Museum. The main attraction of the Sarnath Archaeological Museum is the superb Ashokan Pillar. It has four back-to-back lions, which has been adopted as the National symbol of India. Below this are representations of a lion, an elephant, horse and the bull. (Museum Timing 10.00 hrs to 17.00 hrs. Friday Closed) etc. Evening view "Aarti" ceremony on the bank of Ganga Ghat, Dashashwamedha. Overnight stay at Varanasi.
Day 06: Varanasi - Bodhgaya
Bharat Mata Temple, built in 1936 and located at Kashi Vidyapeeth (University) Campus, is a shrine dedicated to Mother India. It enshrines a marble structure of Mother India, a fine three dimensional structure of undivided India. The marble structure, rather a map of India, is constructed at the right proportions of oceans, lands, and hills. This is a unique temple and a symbol of patriotism. The Bharat Mata temple at Varanasi is the only temple dedicated to Mother India.
Proceed to Bodhgaya. This village is situated near the river Niranjana (Phalgu). It is one of the holiest Buddhist centers. This is the place where Gautama meditated and attained enlightenment. The tree that had sheltered him came to be known as the Bodhi tree. Overnight stay at hotel in Bodhgaya.
Day 07: Bodhgaya
It is the site where Prince Siddhartha attained enlightenment under a Pipal tree after years of search for the truth and knowledge. He attained the supreme enlightenment and became 'The Buddha' or 'The Enlightened One'. Bodhgaya - most sacred place for Buddhists as it has a Pipal tree under which Gautama the Buddha attained enlightenment some 2500 years back.
Sightseeing includes Mahabodhi Temple, Animesh Lochan Chaitya, Bodhi Tree, Chankramana, Ratnagarh, Vishnupad Temple, Barbara Caves. Bodhgaya has a number of monasteries, some of them established by Buddhists of Japan, Thailand, Myanmar, Sri Lanka ,etc. Overnight stay at Bodhgaya.
Day 08: Bodhgaya – Rajgir – Nalanda - Patna
Proceed to Rajgir. Rajgir is a place of great significance for Buddhists and Janis. Lord Buddha spent 12 years at Rajgir and the first Buddhist council was held here. Sightseeing at Rajgir covers the Shanti Stupa, Hot Springs, Gridhakuta Hill, Bimbisara Jail and other Jain and Buddha monuments. From Rajgir you will be driven to Nalanda (20 km).
Nalanda was a great center of learning in ancient time. Nalanda was one of the greatest monastic university of the ancient world. At Nalanda you will visit the Nalanda University Ruins, Archaeological Complex, Nalanda Archaeological Museum, Nava Nalanda Mahavihara, Hieun Tsang Memorial Hall, and Silao. From Nalanda you will head for Patna (90km). Overnight stay at hotel in Patna.
Day 09: Patna (Kumhrar) - Vaishali
Patna once called Patliputra, presently the capital of Bihar, is among the world's oldest capital cities with unbroken history of many centuries as imperial metropolis of the Mauryas and Guptas imperial dynasties. Sightseeing includes GolGhar - is a large dome-like structure from where one can have a fine view of the Ganga and the surroundings of the city. Patna Museum - has a rich collection of Mauryan and Buddhist sculptures, terracotta and other interesting items. It also houses the world’s longest fossilized tree -16m long and 200 million years old.
Kumrahar, located in the city of Patna, is the site that consists of the archaeological excavations of Patliputra and marks the ancient capital of Ajatshatru, Chandragupta and Ashok. The remains of the ancient city of Patilputra have been uncovered in Kumrahar, south of Patna. It is 5 Km from the railway station.
Proceed to Vaishali ( 65 km), place where Buddha announced the approaching of his Mahaparinirvana. Also visit Ashokan Pillar, Bawan Pokhar Temple, Budha Stupa-I and II, Abhiskek Pushkarn (Coronation tank, Kundalpur, Raja Vishal ka Garh, Shanti Stupa,World Peace Pagoda. Overnight stay at hotel in Patna.
Day 10: Patna - Kushinagar
Morning Post Breakfast proceed to Kushinagar. Kushinagar is the place where Buddha had passed into Parinirvana and therefore is a prominent Buddhist site. Guests will visit the main monuments such as Ramabha stupa standing on the place where Buddha was cremated, Natha Kumarka Kot enshrining the large figure of Buddha.
The existing historical sites at Kushinagar can be divided into three Categories: 1st - the Mahaparinirvana Temple, which houses the statue of the reclining Buddha, 2nd - the Mata Kunwar Shrine, which houses a 10th Century blue schist image of Buddha and 3rd - the Rambhar Stupa, which is supposed to be the spot where Lord Buddha was cremated. After experiencing these eternal sites return to the hotel for overnight stay at hotel in Kushinagar.
Day 11: Kushinagar - Lumbini
After Breakfast drive to Lumbini .The birthplace of Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. Lumbini lies in the foothills of the Himalayas in Nepal. The area around Lumbini is entirely Hindu, but many Buddhist temples and shrines from various nations are scattered around the holy site itself Maya Devi Temple the most important temple at Lumbini , Puskarni the sacred pool where it is said Maya Devi bathed before giving birth, Ashoka's Pillar .Overnight stay at Lumbini.
Day 12: Lumbini – Kapilavastu - Sravasti
Morning Breakfast and leave for Sravasti , enroute visiting Kapilavastu - the childhood home of Gautam Buddha. Prince Gautam, as the Buddha was then known, left his palace in Kapilvastu at the age of 29, and revisited in 12 years later, after attaining enlightenment.
After that proceed to Sravasti where the Buddha preached most of his sermons. Here he is said to have performed many miracles, and levitated. During the monsoon, he used to stay at the Jetavana monastery on the outskirts of this town. Visit Sahet Mahet and Angulimal caves. Overnight stay at hotel in Sravasti.
Day 13: Sravasti - Lucknow
Sravasti was located on the bank of the river Aciravati (now called the Rapti river). It was the capital city of the kingdom of Kosala, and its king was called Pasenadi, who was a disciple of Buddha. The two main attractions here are the Pakki Kuti and the Kachchi Kuti. This place also has an Anand Bodhi tree, an offspring of the original Bodhi tree, planted by Buddha's main disciple Anand. There are also the Thai- Sri Lankan- Myanmar- Chinese- Korean Buddhist Temples, the Shobhnath Temple. Proceed to Lucknow and overnight stay at hotel in Lucknow.
Day 14: Lucknow - Sankisa
Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, extends along the bank of the River Gomti. The creator of Lucknow as it is today was Nawab Asafud Daula. The city became known as a centre for Urdu poetry and Courtly diction, and reached its acme during the region of Wajid Ali Shah who was a connoisseur of music and poetry. Main attractions of Lucknow are Bara Imambara, Chhota Imambara, Husainabad Clock Tower and British Residency.
Proceed to Sankisa. Mythical legends related the place to the Buddha. It is believed that after delivering sermons to his mother and other Devas in the Heaven, the Buddha returned to earth here at this place, Sankisa, which was considered the town of human abode. Because of this, Sankisa is counted amongst the pilgrim destinations for the Buddhist. Buddhist attractions in Sankisa -The Buddha Temple, The Temple of Maya Devi, The Ruins of Ashokan Elephant Pillar. Overnight stay at hotel in Sankisa.
Day 15: Sankisa - Agra
Morning post Breakfast proceed to Agra. Agra situated on the bank of the Yamuna River in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, India. It finds mention in the epic Mahabharata where it was called Agrevana or 'the border of the forest'. It achieved fame as the capital of the Mughal Emperors from 1526 to 1658 and remains a major tourist destination because of its many splendid Mughal era buildings, most notably the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri, all three of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Visit Fatehpur Sikri . (Abandoned city) . Fatehpur Sikri is 40 km from Agra and built by Emperor Akbar in 1569 and abandoned after 15 years due to scarcity of water. See the graceful buildings including the Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chisti, Panch Mahal and other Palaces. Overnight stay at hotel in Agra.
Day 16: Agra
The Taj Mahal built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as the final resting place for his favourite Queen, Mumtaz. Finished in by Marvel, it is perhaps India most fascinating and beautiful monument. This perfectly symmetrical monument took 22 years. Overnight stay at Agra.
Day 17: Agra – New Delhi
Morning post breakfast drive to New Delhi, here your “BUDDHA” tour ends with all knowledge of “BUDDHISM CULTURE AND HISTORY”. You can move for your onward destination with sweet memories.
