Day 01: Arrive Bhubaneshwar
Arrive Bhubaneshwar. Importance of theplace are temples - Lingaraj, Rajarani, Mukteswar, Brahmeswar and Parasurameswar. These temples are some of the best specimens of the Orissa Temple Architecture. Overnight at Bhubaneshwar.
Day 02: Bhubaneshwar - Puri
Drive to Puri visiting Konark enroute. The beautiful Sun-Temple at Konark, built in the 13th century in honour of the Sun God, contains exquisite carvings, life sized lions and elephants, colossal figures of warriors on horses, scenes of battle & chase - all carved with great imagination and skill, testify to the high standard of ancient Indian art and engineering skill. Overnight stay at Puri.
Day 03: Puri
Day at leisure for exploring this Temple-town. Puri is one of the most important pilgrimage centre for the Hindus. The renowned Jagannath Temple built in the 15th century AD and crowned with Vishnu's wheel and flag dominate the landscape at Puri. The temple with its carvings and moldings are very fine examples of Orissa architecture. A visit to the beach will also be agreeable. Overnight at Puri.
Day 04: Puri - Kolkata (Calcutta)
Day at leisure, and transfer to connect train to Kolkata. Overnight on board train.
Day 05: Kolkata
Morning arrive Kolkata (Calcutta), day at leisure. In this "City of Joy" one could visit the Jain Temple, Zoological Gardens, Victoria Memorial, drive past Howrah Bridge, Dalhousie Square, Fort Williams, Secretariat Building, and Old Court House street. A visit to Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity would also be interesting. Overnight at Kolkata.
Day 06: Kolkata-Basanti-Sunderbans
Early morning drive to Basanti. From Basanti you will be transferred by motor fitted country boat to the tourist lodge located in the Sunderbans. Sundarbans is home of Royal Bengal Tigers, Ridley Sea Turtles and many other wildlife species. In afternoon set out to explore the wildlife from the watchtower near the lodge. Overnight stay will be at the tourist lodge.
Day 07: Sunderbans
In morning full day river cruise with packed food and fruits. Later you will have a halt at Sudhanyakhali watchtower - where one may get to spot the Royal Bengal Tiger and may have view of Mangrove forests from the creeks. Overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 08: Sunderbans-Basanti-Kolkata
In morning return back to Basanti sailing through the river. Upon arrival at Basanti will drive to Kolkata and transfer to connect onward destination.
